Cosmic Ray Workshop

Arrival, Registration & Pre Test (A. Kuhlman, C. Freeman, C. Kobashigawa)
Welcome students to the Cosmic Ray Workshop, sign in sheet, nametags, and Pre Test in room M103
9.15am
Welcome and Introductions (M. Kadooka, C. Ishii)
The topics of the day will be introduced via video modules.
9.30am
Particle Detector Talk and Demonstration (S. Wang, C. Light )
Talk on the Particle Detector in room M103.
Applications of Detector in room M104.
10.00am
Particle Detector & Solar Energetic Particles Activities, and Tour of Muon Detector (C. Kobashigawa, D. Ong, C. Light, J. Adams )
The Particle Detector activity is indicated for Middle School Students, and will be held in room M103.
The Solar Energetic Particle activity is indicated for High School Students, and will be held in room M104.
12.00pm
Lunch with a physicist (Prof Mike Jones, Dr. Claudio Corti, Chris Light, Siqi Wang, Andrew Kuhlman, Christopher Freeman)
Students will spread out to the different classrooms, each with a different physicist. Questions from students are encouraged.
1.00pm
AMS Data and Solar Energetic Particles (C. Light )
The talk will be held in the Cournelle Auditorium.
1.30pm
Solar Energetic Particles & Cosmic Ray Analysis e-Lab (C. Kobashigawa, M. Jones, P. Grach )
The Solar Energetic Particle activity is indicated for Middle School Students, and will be held in room M103.
The Cosmic Ray Analysis e-Lab activity is indicated for High School Students, and will be held in room M104.
3.00pm
Post Test and Evaluation (C. Kobashigawa)
Students will tackle the Post Test and fill out evaluation of the workshop in room M104.
3.30pm
Adjourn

Laptops are needed for this workshop. So please bring them for pairs of students.

Welcome students to Masterclass, sign in sheet, nametags, etc in Cornuelle Room.
10.15am - 11.00am
Hands-On Activities
Student Investigation with Rolling with Rutherford Activity, Discussion with Quark Puzzle Activity, and Discovery of the Top Quark Mass.
11.00am -12.30pm
Overview and Introduction
T. Coke will give a brief overview and Introduction & Talks from invited speakers: M. Palermo, S. Vahsen.
12.30pm
Lunch with a physicist (C. Corti, J. Kumar, M. Palermo, S. Vahsen & Graduate Students)
Students will spread out to the different classrooms, each with a different physicist. Questions from students are encouraged.
1.00pm
Tour of Punahou Cosmic Ray Detector
1.30pm - 2.30pm
Data Analysis & Discussion of Results
Students and mentors discuss meaning of analysis results and questions for other institutes.
3.00pm
Videoconference with Fermilab and other Student Groups
Students  will discuss their results with students from other schools in other  locations around the world with guidance from scientists at Fermilab.
3.30pm
Conclusions and Evaluation (T.Coke)
Students fill out evaluation of the workshop.
