ID Lab x-ray FEL Backscatter x-ray Estimates

Input Assumptions

38MeV ebeam
150mA beam current
30μm ebeam focus (miniβ)
1ps micropulse
4μs macropulse
3μm laser wavelength
30μm laser focus
5MW peak laser power

I calculate a total of 291 x-rays per micropulse scattered into 2π in the electron rest frame. 

In the lab frame this folds into a 1/γ cone with a peak on axis energy of 9.1keV. 

The total macropulse yield is 3.3e6 photons.

Estimate of propagating down the beamline

Start with basic simulation:
  1. Commission MPPC-based x-ray monitoring
  2. HPK PMT with scintillator (off axis) + amplifier for background monitoring
