PHYSICS LINKS and SOFTWARE

The Java applets used in class to demonstrate motors, generators, & AC circuits should run on any Web browser with Java. They can be found at: http://home.a-city.de/walter.fendt/phe/phe.htm. This site contains many Java applets on mechanics, E&M, optics, radioactive decay, etc.! I recommend browsing through them and playing with as many as you have time for.

Here is a repeat of the link to the Java applets to demonstrate the object/image relationship for lenses & mirrors. I recommend playing with these as much as possible - use them to verify what you would predict for object & image heights & distances from the Galilean thin-lens formulas.

If you have a Macintosh computer, and you would like to download some other nifty physics programs, they are called things like YP Electric Field, and you can find them (along with a bunch of other physics demo software by the same author) at http://www.kagi.com/pelletier. They are shareware, and slightly disabled versions are available for free download and trial - they become fully enabled after you pay a $20 shareware fee. (Sorry, but I don't think the author has created any Windows versions.)

Physics 2000 is the home of some outstanding applet demonstrations you can play with using a Web browser, albeit a more limited selection of topics. Go to: http://www.colorado.edu/physics/2000/
