installing a cypress USB driver

Here you will find instructions and files to setup an interface between a personal computer running ms windows and a cypress cy7c68013 ez-usb fx2.

For ms windows XP, start by installing the IDLAB-branded cypress driver:

Download the ms windows driver (zip) and uncompress it.
If you want to change the device name that shows up in the hardware manager, edit the file
```
ezusbw2k.Inf
```
and alter the line
```
USB\VID_6672&PID_2920.DeviceDesc="Cypress EZ-USB IDLAB-STD"
```

To install the driver, right-click on the
```
ezusbw2k.Inf
```
file and select install.
That's it, unless you want the extended usb packet size version.

If you want the extended usb packet size versions (384kB (local copy of 384kB) or 512kB (local copy of 512kB)), then download them and install them by replacing the ezusb.sys file in c:/winnt/system32/drivers with the newer one.
Note: if the small usb packet size version is installed and the device needs the bigger packets, then it will behave as if the FPGA is never talking to the cypress (the gui will hang when trying to read out the board).

For 64 bit ms windows 7 (thanks to Eric Oberla for these instructions):

Download the CY3684 EZ-USB FX2LP Dev Kit 'DVK kit setup' software here or here
Edit cyusbfx1_fx2lp.inf in the folder
```
CY3684_EZ-USB_FX2LP_DVK\1.0\Drivers\cyusbfx1_fx2lp\wlh-win7\x64
```
- under [Device] and [Device.NTamd64] add
```
%VID_6672&PID_2920.DeviceDesc%=CyUsb, USB\VID_6672&PID_2920
```
- also update the related string section at the bottom:
```
VID_6672&PID_2920.DeviceDesc="UChicago USB Device"
```
  (put whatever text you like here between the quotes)
Update driver in Device Manger, browsing the aforementioned folder. The USB device will be recognized.

Configure the eeprom on the board to get the cypress IC to run in the desired mode:
