Date: Fri, 02 Jul 2010 17:54:25 +0900 From: John Flanagan Questions were: 1) Why do we need a Be window? A: We need some kind of window, and the Be window is already there... 2) Are we scavenging anything from Cornell and leaving them without a working system? A: No 3) Why is the coded aperture such a complicated pattern? A: The pseudo-random pattern has the advantage of a relatively flat sensitivity over a wide range of spatial frequencies. 4) So the pattern analysis is similar to the peak-to-valley ratio analysis of an SR interferometer? A: Yes. (Except that it is not simply analytic, unfortunately.) 5) Is the mask mounted in air? A: Yes. 6) Comment: the ability to do remote rotational adjustment will be needed. A: Yes, that is true. 7) Do we need dedicated beam time? A: Set up, alignment, detector and readout testing can be done parasitically, as long as there is beam coming down the extraction line. Once we are ready to do a resolution test, we will then want to request a tuned beam size (~5 um) at the source point.
