Minutes of the BEAST meeting
Friday November 20th 12:00 JST
We reviewed the readiness of BEAST and prepared a list of
items to finish. Most of the remaining work is
testing detector components and preparation of monitoring software.
Organization:
Browder is preparing a BEAST shift schedule starting with the
month of December. Please let him know your schedule and
availability for shifts if have not already done so.
The detailed timing of the New Year's
accelerator shutdown will be known in two weeks.
Haba also reminded us that as of November 24th, the BEAST will be in
"Access Mode". To work on the BEAST requires a radiation badge and
a request for access.
TO DO list:
Diodes: Prepare monitoring code. We should be able to provide real-time
instantaneous dose rates to the accelerator control room.
Drift tubes: Understand the five channels which are not responding.
Finish calibration of the tubes. A first look at the pulseheight
spectrum looked reasonable. We should also check correlations between
tubes. Prepare monitoring code. We should be able to provide drift
tube hit rates to the accelerator control room.
MOSFETs: Should probably test with an active radioactive source.
Trigger: Finalize details of the trigger signal from RF. Consult
with Kichimi. Since only a few bunches are filled
in early commissioning we also want the BPM signal
to localize the bucket that is filled.
DAQ: Integrate code for diodes, drift tubes. (At the moment they are
two separate modules). Establish and test communication with KEK-B.
For the moment, store the data in machine independent ASCII files.
Check that these files can be analysed on the bwgxx computers.
Simulation: Finish predictions of dose and rate with updated
BEAST lattice. Sahu has recently added slots for
a model of the vacuum profile. Haba noted that there will be bumps
in magnet QC1RE i.e. 2-3 mm offsets of the beam.
Updates of the lattice
will be available from the following KEK-B WEB pages:
