The best place in Oahu for Hawaiian food. Best for lunch. Pyramids: Egyptian, on Kapahulu Ave, belly dancers some nights, very good lunch buffet, 10 min walk Irifune: Hawaii Nissei-style Japanese, 563 Kapahulu, 10 min walk. Hee Hing: Chinese, 449 Kapahulu, 10 min walk Other restaurants *Kirin: Northern Chinese, near the university, 2518 Bretania St. *Yen King, Kahala Mall, Northern Chinese. 10 minutes ride from campus. Chiang Mai: Thai, near the university, 2239 S. King St. Gordon Biersch: good for beer-drinking, Aloha Tower Market Place (downtown), not within walking distance. *Roy's: Pacific Rim Haute Cuisine, not within walking distance, 6600 Kalanianaole Hwy, (808)-396-7697 Alan Wong's: Pacific Rim Haute Cuisine, not within walking distance 1857 S. King St., (808)-949-2526, also new branch at Macy's at Ala Moana shopping center. Chef Mavros, King and McCully. Rather expensive but worth it. Sam Choy's, two locations. *Chai's Island Bistro, Aloha Tower Marketplace, also rather expensive, eclectic menu, very good quality. Indigo, downtown, 1121 Nuuanu st. Also eclectic Asian inspired menu. Yanagi Sushi. 762 Kapiolani Blvd, near downtown. Perhaps the best in terms of quality of fish, but somewhat less friendly than Tokkuri Tei. Mekong I and Mekong II*, also run by Keo's, but warmer, less touristy atmosphere and closer to campus. 1295 S. Beretania(I) and 1726 S.
