Humans are travelers,
Diaspora in time and space,
Life in kshana on tiny planet,
Giving joy on birth and sadness on passing.
Yet another friend is gone,
To the world of nirvana,
Born in India and passing to Pacific,
Leaving the rest in the world of klisa,
Joy was with us when we worked together,
On the mystery of universe,
On the root of all things,
Sharing endeavor, hardship and joy.
Mystery is still there,
Root is yet to be uncovered,
We keep traveling together,
Sandip, you and I.

I was the first student of Sandip. We were talking about massive neutrinos as far back as 1970. Used to meet him late at night almost daily,he inspired me. Recollecting my association with him is emotional . My family loved him – we saw him last a year ago
