UH Physics Professor and colleagues may be able to look inside secret North Korean nuclear reactors with neutrinos

“A international group of neutrino physics specialists (including Prof. John G. Learned of UH Manoa), who are interested in reducing the spread of nuclear weapons have written a paper suggesting a method for monitoring the interior of nuclear reactors at the North Korean Yongbin nuclear site using ethereal subatomic particles called neutrinos. A letter on this technique was published in the November 9th edition of  Science magazine. A paper on their method has been posted to the on-line physics preprint archive http://arxiv.org/abs/1811.04737
