Slide 1 S.L.Olsen 4/4/96 Pictel mtg Is there a k1(1270) signal in psi'-->k0 k+ pi- pi0 (+ cc) decays? INTRODUCTION My study of psi'-->k+k-pi+pi- decays, reported at last week's CUSeeMe meeting, indicates a very strong signal for psi'-->k1(1270)+ k- (+ cc) | k+ rho0 | pi+ pi- My preliminary results indicates a Br around 0.1%, which is quite large for a psi' exclusive channel. Translating this to J/psi decays via the "14% rule" results in an expectation that Br(J/psi-->k1(1270) k + cc) is around the 1% level, comparable to that for J/psi --> rho pi, the dominant decay mode. Since there are no PDG listings for J/psi-->k1k, one suspects that this decay mode is in fact well below the 1% level, and, if my preliminary results are correct, this psi' decay mode may be an example of a long-sought-for decay of the psi' that exceeds 14%-rule expectations. In order to confirm the signal seen in the k+k-pi+pi- final states, I have made a first-pass study of psi'-->k0 k+ pi- pi0 (+ cc) final states. These should include k1+ signals in the I-spin related decay mode: k1+ --> k0 pi+ pi0 as well a neutral k10 via psi'--> k10 k0-bar | k+ pi- pi0 Here I report on the status of this study.
