From varner@phys.hawaii.edu Sat Oct 8 15:20:30 2011 Date: Sat, 8 Oct 2011 15:20:30 -1000 (HST) From: Gary S. Varner To: Gary S. Varner Subject: interconnect revB / IDL_11_033 -- design review notes I made the changes to the interconnect board that we need for the beam-test version of the iTOP board-stack. I've noted the changes below. Is everyone available for a design review sometime early next week? Changes to layout: ------------------------------------------------- Cut debugging headers off board (and removed that section of board, including 2 mounting holes). This was the principle motivation for making a revB now (so the cat7 cables click into place on SCROD). Changed silkscreen manifest number, added my initials to Louie's, updated date. Added many vias on voltage and ground nets around each voltage regulator to deliver more heat into the copper planes and to lower the inductance. Thickened traces going to vias (0.65mm now) and decoupling caps. Added vias to raw power and ground nets around J2 120 pin connector and various places on other connectors. Moved power planes in so they don't go near the edge of the board (near the aluminum frame). Changed SCROD decal so silkscreen for what's what ("remote jtag," etc) is visible from both sides of board. Added ground and raw/regulated voltage test points. The only other changes besides that are some minor modifications to the silkscreen here and there for clarity. Changes to schematic: ------------------------------------------------ Generated new manifest number and put it in title block. Changed rev to "B." Updated notes on top page. The schematic part for SCROD_J2 had a pin called "J2_052_A22," but should have been "J2_052_AA22" (fixed). Added part numbers (FX8C-120P-SV4, etc) to the "SCROD" page because the fact that they were missing confused people soldering the boards. Added better names to "DAC1" .. "DAC8" signals on SCROD schematic part ("J3_023_F14_SDA0," etc; to lessen effort when writing firmware). Added global clock +/- indicators to net names on SCROD schematic part. -- -Matt Andrew 808 956-2920 IDlab, Watanabe 214b Department of Physics University of Hawaii at Manoa
