The goal of the
BELLE
experiment is the observation of CP violation in the decays of
the B mesons. The experiment operates at the
KEKB accelerator,
a high luminosity
asymmetric energy e+ e- machine.
Hawaii has a unique role in Belle. There are many opportunities
for new talented graduate students in this experiment.
The group constructed the TOF system, designed the SVD2 beam pipe, constructed and operated the BEAST background experiment , wrote TOF reconstruction software, contributes to the tracking software and is now performing R&D on a pixel vertex detector upgrade as well as preparing software, analysing data and operating the experiment.
The group consists of Professors Tom Browder , Mike Jones , Steve Olsen , Mike Peters , Gary Varner, Staff members Marc Rosen, Herbert Hoedimoser, Li Jin, and Graduate students Kurtis Nishimura, Jamal Rorie, Himansu Sahoo.
