Research Interest:
Condensed Matter Theory-Electronic and structural propertes of materials: bulk, surface/interface, nanostructures, and smalll clusters. Current interest: "superhard" materials based on boron-carbon-nitrogen systems. Fundamental interest: quantum, and relativity theories.
Specialty:
Electronic structure theory and first-principles computations.
Career History:
  • 1977 -- B.S. in Applied Physics, CalTech
  • 1983 -- Ph.D. in Physics, U. C. Berkeley
  • 1983-1984 -- National Research Council Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Natinal Bureau of Standards, Gaitherburg, Maryland (Now it is renamed as the National Institute of Science and Technologies)
  • 1984-1985 -- Visiting Professor, Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Hawaii at Manoa.
  • 1985-1989 -- Assistant Professor, Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Hawaii at Manoa.
  • 1989-1995 -- Associate Professor, Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Hawaii at Manoa.
