The workshop aims to bring together experts in the field of cosmic rays and solar energetic particles with an additional focus on their propagation inside the heliosphere and their interaction with the magnetosphere. The talks will present the most recent results related to solar energetic particles (SEPs), solar modulation, space radiation and related phenomena.

Workshop Details

The workshop will be held at the Hyatt Arlington ( located in Wilson Boulevard, Washington DC. The workshop will take place in a fully equiped room. We will kick off the workshop on Monday morning, Apr. 24th. Presentations will be held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. On Tuesday night, workshop attendees will be invited to enjoy a Social Party in the hotel's restaurant. Two coffee breaks per day will be provided.



Accommodations at the Conference Hotel

A limited number of hotel rooms are available at the Hyatt Arlington (1325 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington, Virginia, 22209) for a conference rate of $219 + 13.25% tax (double occupancy) until 3/23/2017.

For Workshop Attendees staying at the Hyatt Hotel, they can self-park the car, with a flat rate of $25 for 24 hours and Vallet parking is $32.
For Workshop Attendees NOT staying at the Hyatt Hotel, the flat rate is $8 with vouchers purchasable at the gate.

Public Transportation:
The Washington area is served by an extensive bus (Metrobus) and subway system (Metrorail, also known as “The Metro”). Visit for information and fares.
Travel on Metrorail requires purchasing a rechargeable “SmarTrip” card ($2+fare) available at any Metro station. For bus fares, use SmarTrip or exact change.
The Hyatt Arlington Hotel is next to the Rosslyn station on Metro’s Blue, Orange and Silver Lines.
Washington’s Union Station is on AMTRAK’s North East corridor rail line, with direct services from cities including New York, Boston and Richmond.

Three major airports serve Washington DC:
Dulles (IAD;, located in Virgina 26 miles west of downtown, is the destination for most international and many domestic flights.
The Washington Flyer Silver Line Express bus ($5) links Dulles to the nearby Wiehle Reston station at the end of the Metro Silver Line; the Silver Line runs directly to Rosslyn station. Alternatively, Express Metro Bus route 5A ($7) runs from Dulles direct to Rosslyn Metro station every half hour on weekdays and hourly at weekends.
Other transportation options include taxis (~$60 to Rosslyn) and shared vans.

Reagan National (DCA;, 4 miles from downtown, serves mainly domestic destinations and Canada, and has its own Metro station.
To reach the Hyatt Hotel, take the Blue Line in the direction of downtown/Largo five stops to the Rosslyn Station. Other options include taxi (~$14) and van services.
By car, merge onto George Washington Memorial Parkway North. Merge onto I-395 South toward Richmond. Merge onto VA-110 North / Jefferson Davis Highway via Exit 8B toward I-66 W /Rosslyn. Turn slight left to take the Wilson Boulevard ramp toward Rosslyn. Turn slight left onto Wilson Boulevard. Turn right onto Nash Street. The hotel is immediately on the right.

Baltimore-Washington Airport (BWI; is in Maryland 35 miles north east of Washington. BWI is a major hub for Southwest Airlines, and is the destination for a limited number of international flights (e.g., from London (BA), Reykjavik (WOW), Canada).
A frequent free bus shuttle links the airport to nearby BWI rail station, from where AMTRAK and MARC (Maryland commuter rail; trains run to New Carrollton (~30 minutes, where a transfer can be made to the Metro Orange line) and then Union Station, Washington (~40 minutes). From Union Station, take the Metro Red line and change to the Blue, Orange or Silver Lines at Metro Center to reach Rosslyn.
BWI airport is also served by Metro bus B30 ($7) that runs to the Greenbelt Metro station on the Green Line. Taxis (~$100 to Rosslyn) and shared van services (~ $50) are also available.
