The Graduate Division can provide information concerning University policy about graduate admissions.

 Financial Aid

Currently almost all of our graduate students receive financial support either through teaching or research assistantships. Normally, first-year students receive teaching assistantships with opportunities for instruction in the lower division physics laboratories. Research assistantships are dependent on funding from the various reseach programs in the Department. In addition to the graduate assistantship stipend, both teaching and reseach assistants receive a tuition waiver. Therefore, registration for courses requires only the payment of approximately $30.00 in fees. In addition to employment during the academic year, many students elect to work in either teaching or research during the three-month summer period.

Any student wishing to apply for a graduate assistantship should write to the Chair, Department of Physics and Astronomy. The University of Hawaii is an equal opportunity employer.

On-campus student housing is available. For information and application materials, please write to: Student Housing Office, Johnson Hall, 2555 Dole Street, Honolulu, Hawaii 96822. Phone (808) 956-8177
